The Ultimate Alaska Adventure features stays at our world famous BearCamp and renowned riverside main lodge. BearCamp is a "glamping" style base camp with beds and linens, gas heat and light, "en Suite" potties in the tents and composting toilets and showers in shared bathrooms. Main lodge features river and mountain view rooms complete with individual decks. All trips based on double occupancy - single rooms sometimes available for an additional fee.
Hotel pickup & Fly to BearCamp
7:30 AM pickup at your Anchorage hotel, followed by an incredibly scenic 135 mile trip to Great Alaska. Following orientation and lunch, it’s onto the plane for a 50 minute bush flight to Bear Camp. Spend the day with the royalty of Alaskan wildlife. Overnight in double occupancy weather-port tent/cabins.
Bear Viewing & Return to Lodge
Your final day in the wilderness. Spend the morning enjoying hot coffee and your new friends as they wander about the meadow and work to put on the coat of fat they will need for the coming winter. After lunch you'll board the bush plane for the return flight to the main lodge, settle in to your riverfront rooms and enjoy happy hour, dinner and evening activities.
Guided Salmon Fishing
Today you'll rise early, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and then pack your lunch from the deli spread in the lodge, then hit the water with your guide, targeting in-season Alaska Salmon on the world famous Kenai or Kasilof rivers. Troll, cast or drift the innumerable runs and back channels of this great fishery. Your guide will share his knowledge of the area and fishing techniques to ensure a great day. Return to the lodge in the afternoon.
Glacier & Wildlife Viewing
Today you'll leave the rods at camp enjoy Alaska's top single day cruise..in spectacular Kenai Fjords National Park. Orca, Gray whales, Humpbacks, Sea Otter, Puffin and a myriad of sea birds call this amazing fjord home during the summer, with thousands of other species as well.
Trophy Trout Fishing
Today we'll target Trophy Rainbow Trout, (# two of "The Big Three"). We'll seek the Kenai River's world famous trout via fly or spinning rods (or both if you prefer). Either way, you'll enjoy some of the finest trout fishing in the world. (Like all the fishing trips, for those who want to focus on the salmon, you can opt for another day chasing them instead. It's up to you.) Overnight at the riverfront lodge.
Offshore Halibut Fishing
Today is day three of "The Big Three" (Salmon, Halibut and Trout). We'll be Halibut fishing offshore in Cook inlet or Resurrection Bay/Prince William Sound and it could easily be your favorite day of fishing! Incredible scenery, glaciers, whales and sea life all abound on these trips and make the fishing a bonus (albeit a big, big bonus!). Depending upon the current conditions and the time of year for your trip, you may see Black Bass, Yelloweye Rockfish, Ling Cod and Silver and Pink salmon come over the rails, along with the "official" target, Pacific Halibut. Return to the lodge just in time to enjoy happy hour and dinner.
Your Choice: Fish or Hike
Your final day..choose from a wonderful hike to a waterfall to view leaping salmon, or target one last day of salmon or trout fishing on the river. Return to the lodge at noon and check out at 2:30. Recommended Gear List
However you choose to arrive, please be "dressed for adventure", as there may be a quick turnaround after lunch to get to the airstrip for your flight to bearcamp - flight times are affected by tides and each day is different time wise. If your trip includes an overnight at BearCamp, be ready to check in to the lodge with a smaller day pack (1500 cubic inches or less) packed and ready to go, as your BearCamp® experience will typically be scheduled for your first 2 days of your trip (though not always). Maximum traveling gear for flights is 25 pounds per person. If you are on an extended stay with Great Alaska, we'll hold your larger bag back at the lodge while you are at bearcamp. Be sure to bring a water bottle! Please see our pre trip info for specific what to bring list for BearCamp.
Our trips include complimentary sightseeing van pickup in Anchorage (we pickup at 4 downtown, mid town and airport locations). Pickup is typically at 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. (time varies slightly each day based upon number and location of pickups). You'll arrive at the main lodge around 10:30 for check in and orientation. We pick up at the cruise dock in Seward or Whittier for an additional fee.
You may also choose to drive in yourself via rental car (free parking while you are at the lodge) or catch a commuter air flight (additional fee) to our local airport in Kenai where a Great Alaska driver will shuttle you back to the lodge.
Complimentary van pickup in Anchorage at one of our 3 designated pickups, followed by an amazing sightseeing trip to lodge via a scenic National Scenic Byway. Trip also includes our signature meals, "nearly world famous" nightly happy hour and legendary evening activities. Choose from salmon fishing "by the fire", calm water Moose River kayaking or paddle boarding and wildlife viewing. All basic equipment (including fly gear for Rainbow Trout) and transfers on daily guided adventures. Concierge assistance at the main lodge each afternoon and an expert office staff for any necessary communications you should require. Return to Anchorage IS included by floatplane direct from the lodge. You'll be shuttled from Lake Hood 5 minutes to the Anchorage airport to depart.
We recommend all guests bring raingear both top and bottom and waterproof, comfortable footwear.
