The world famous Kenai River is unlike any other river in the world. Best known for it's gigantic King Salmon, the Kenai is so much more than that! 10 separate runs of salmon....King salmon, Silver Salmon, Sockeye (Red) Salmon and Pink Salmon all enter the river each year, meaning the Kenai has incredible variety and consistency of fishing during the course of a short Alaskan summer.
Early run King salmon begin to enter the river in early May, while Sockeye begin at about the same time. As the sockeye slow down in mid June, Rainbow the Kings typically begin to peak. 2nd run Kings and Sockeye converge in July to make a tremendous fishery, and in August and September the Silver salmon and Pink salmon (pinks on even years only) is the star of the show, just about the time our trophy Rainbow Trout begin to peak. Please note that Great Alaska Adventures release all Kenai River King salmon regardless of current regulations, to help sustain this fragile, but incredible fishery.
Whether you like to Troll, Cast or fly fish, the Kenai is the place for you. The upper and mid river are excellent wade and drift boat fishing, which lends itself to lightweight spin casting and fly fishing for our amazing Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden, and the lower river is known for back trolling and spin casting to dime bright salmon coming in on the tides. Our guides fish 50 river miles of the mighty Kenai daily, and we revel in sharing with our guests this incredible fishery.
The Kenai is perfect for beginning or expert anglers alike. Great Alaska guides are excellent, patient teachers who will take pride in not only helping you to catch fish, but learning about the amazing area you are fishing.
