Great Alaska features a few itineraries that include a special 3 day Denali tour that includes a Denali flightsee, the iconic Tundra Tour inside Denali itself, and a return to Anchorage via the historic Alaska Railroad in one of it's dome cars. Great Alaska only offers Denali Tours as part of our extended National Park Safari, our Bucket List Adventure or on some custom trips.
Many people feel that a Denali trip is an essential part of their Alaska adventure vacation. Indeed, few things can compare with seeing the highest peak in North America. At 20,320 feet, the Denali massif is such a stupendous geologic feature that it creates its own weather and its own ecosystems. While the mountain itself is only visible about 20 percent of the time, Denali National Park is home to 6 million acres of pristine Wilderness and a stunning array of wildlife, including caribou, moose, grizzly bears, Dall sheep, foxes, wolves, golden eagles and many other fauna.
The bus tours are hosted by experienced driver-guides who share natural history stories while helping passengers spot wildlife. The only downside to a Denali National Park extension on your trip is that it takes at least 3 days of your itinerary to do it right. Alaska is big country, so essentially it takes a day to get to the Park, a day to take the bus tour, and a day to return to Anchorage or Fairbanks..
Our trips include a Kenai Peninsula Tour on the way to Talkeetna, a quirky and fun town devoted to all things Denali and Alaska. We'll lunch at a local bistro, hop a bushplane for a flight seeing trip of Denali Mt. and then overnight at one our favorite local inns.
On the second day of your Denali Adventure, we'll get up early and head to Denali and the park tour. It will be a long day but worth is as you experience the vastness and beauty that is Denali National Park.
On you'r final day we'll visit the visitor center, or enjoy a morning hike or even a drive to a scenic overlook...and then it's to the historic Alaska Railroad to board for the beautiful trip back to Anchorage. You'll arrive at about 8:30 and cabs will be waiting at the train station.
Time for a nice dinner in town and to decompress of all the Alaskan Nature you've experienced in the last 10 days. But as they say
Once you go to Alaska....you never go all the way back!
