Great Alaska founder Laurence John comes from a long line of adventurers. In the early 1980’s he ventured north to Alaska, where he met Alaskan homesteaders Laura Pedersen and her daughter, Kathy. These two families joined forces to build a vision and a future: The Great Alaska lodge, built on the site of the original Pedersen homestead, on the shores of the spectacular Kenai River.

Drawn by the same lure of adventure, Laurence’s son, Kent, soon joined the company. Together, father and son have expanded, refined and redefined the legendary guest experience at Great Alaska.
