Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1

Courtesy van Pickup in Anchorage at your hotel, followed by a beautiful ride down the Kenai Peninsula and Great Alaska Adventure Lodge  . Orientation and lunch at the main lodge and then on to the airport for the spectacular bush plane flight to our Bear Camp. The balance of your day is spent viewing bears.  Unlimited time on the platform and ground level viewing stations- no more than 12 guests at any time ensure at remarkable experience for you.  Cuisine is flown in daily from the main lodge and prepared by your guides. Overnight in comfortable “Weather Port” tent cabins with twin beds, and propane heat.
Day 2

Day 2

Wake at your own schedule to hot coffee, then spend the morning with the royalty of Alaska Wildlife—the incredible Brown Bear.  No roads or trails access this area so you’ll get a glimpse of the “homesteader experience” and true Alaskan wilderness as you feel your internal clock reset to a different pace.  Your evening may include a fire on the beach as the sun “almost sets".  Overnight at the camp.

Day 3

One more final morning with the bears and true wilderness.  By now you may have names for some of the more visible members of the local bear population!  After lunch, your return bush flight will bring you back to our main lodge on the Kenai River.  Settle in to your riverside cabin with private bath, and fireplace, overlooking the confluence of the Kenai and Moose rivers.  Welcome back to our version of civilization!
Day 4

Day 4

Today we'll cruise the incomparable Kenai Fjords National Park.  On the way to Seward to stretch our leges by walking to the face of a retreating glacier...almost close enough to touch!)  Then it's on to Seward to spend the rest of this day cruising and seeking calving glaciers, Humpback whales and Orca, charming Sea Otters and endangered Stellar Sea Lions.  Retrn to the lodge in time for happy hour, dinner and evening activities.
Day 5

Day 5

The adventure continues with a whitewater raft trip on the famous class IV river known only as “6 Mile”. From your initial swimming test to the invigorating canyon runs, we use the finest guides in the area to explore the thrill that is whitewater rafting.  This trip will keep your adrenaline pumping until the final pull out. We’ll end the day energized and share the pictures "on the big screen" at happy hour in the lodge.  ITINERARY NOTE:  Those who chose the 5 day option will substitute day seven here.  Overnight at lodge for 7 day trip, return to Anchorage if selecting 5 day trip.
Day 6

Day 6

Mountain biking in the Chugach!  The trail today leads uphill in the Kenai Mountains of the Chugach National Forest.  The route is beautiful crosses cold crystal clear streams before reaching our destination at the mountaintop.  Here, you will be able to watch salmon working their way upstream, over waterfalls, to reach their spawning grounds.  More energetic riders will continue up to upper russion lake. This is the heart of the Sockeye annual migration and Eagles and Brown Bear will be in the area as well.
Moose river Kayaking

Day 7

This morning choose from a paddle to our wilderness camp or a day of guided fishing.  Paddlers will enjoy safe stable river kayaks and follow the meandering stream that drains the lakes of the “Swan Lakes Wilderness Canoe Trail”.  Watch for Swans, Eagles, Osprey, countless ducks and Mergansers as well as the main targets, Moose and Bear.  Arrive back at the Wilderness Camp in time to be boated back to the main lodge and your float plane or shuttle flight to Anchorage. .   Anglers may choose a day of guided sport fishing with one of our expert guides.  Following your morning activity, transfer to Kenai airport for your return to Anchorage. (transfer not included).
