Father-Son Fishing and Bears Combo
Father and son Alaska Fishing and Bears
The Fishing-Son Fish and Bear Viewing Combination is one of our favorites...a great trip that combines our great Alaska sport fishing experience with a day trip or overnight to BearCamp to share with your son or grandson (or both!). Both 5 and 7 day versions are available of this main lodge-based sport fishing and fly-in Bear Viewing experience. This just may be the perfect way to spend some quality father/son time in amazing Alaska.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
![]() |
Day 1You and your son will be met at 7:30AM at one of three Anchorage pickup points by our private van for the scenic 2 ½ hour trip to Great Alaska. After arriving at riverside Main lodge, Lunch and orientation is followed by your 50 minute flight to our incredible bear viewing camp in Lake Clark. After the gorgeous flight, you'll spend about 1 1/2 hours on the ground before boarding the plane back to the main lodge to settle into your riverfront cabin on the Kenai. Happy hour, dinner and your riverfront cabin with private bath and fireplace welcome you back to civilization. |
Day 2If you've chosen an overnight at bearcamp, you'll wake in the wilderness and enjoy your hot coffee on the raised viewing platform while viewing the bears in the meadow at the foot of Mt. Illiamna. Balance of the morning with the bears. Following lunch, you'll board the plane and head back to the main lodge, to settle into your riverfront cabins with a couple hours to relax before happy hour and dinner. (Those who chose the single day bear experience will enjoy their first full day of guided fishing today). Choose from Kenai river Salmon or Trout for your first day on the water.
Day 3Today's a special day, and we'll target offshore fishing in Cook Inlet or Resurrection Bay (depending upon season). Giant Pacific Halibut, Ling Cod, Yellow eye Rockfish and Black Bass plus Silver, Pink and King salmon are all possible targets, but the whales, wildlife and scenery are a close second in these amazing ageas. Incredible scenery, great wildlife and some tasty treats to take back home!
Day 4The Kenai river produces some of the most outstanding Trophy Trout fishing in Alaska..and it's an awesome fishery for expert fly fishermen and beginner spin fishers alike....fishing in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge with your son is all it's touted to be - clear mountain water, beautiful drifts, and great fishing. Two to four anglers per boat will drift and wade the Kenai River in search of Char, and especially Rainbow Trout. Back at the lodge in the late afternoon.
Day 5Another day of Alaska Salmon fishing in a power or drift boat. You may chase the worlds's largest Kings, cast spinners for aggressive shallow water Silver Salmon or swing flies for the acrobatic Sockeye salmon...it all depends upon the season and your own preference. (five day trips end with a 1/2 day fishing trip this day and a 2:30 checkout).
Day 6Another great day of trophy fishing. Choose from Kasilof River Salmon or Kenai Rainbow Trout fishing (as in Days 3 & 4). Its your choice. For more variety, you may opt to wade a mountain stream for Rainbow and Char or hike in to a high mountain lake for flyrod Grayling, depending upon season. Back at the lodge by 2 - 3:00 and a well deserved nap or a few more casts right in front of your cabin door, prior to happy hour, dinner and more evening activities.
Day 7Your final day with one of our great guides...Salmon fishing in power or drift boat, returning to the lodge at noon. At approximately 2:30PM, you will depart camp for your commuter flight to Anchorage or be met right at the lodge by your floatplane charter back to Anchorage. Note- flights are not included in package price. |
