Legendary Tarpon fishing is the hallmark of these Caribbean waters where Silver Kings in excess of 100 pounds feed offshore and cruise the famous Tortuguero rivers. Day-by-Day Itinerary


Day 1

Arrival Day

Fly into Costa Rica’s capital city and catch a cab to your downtown hotel (hotel and cab is not included).  Overnight in a great, metropolitan city. 

Day 1

7:00 pickup at your San Jose hotel, then travel through a Cloud forest and Banana Plantations to the edge of the Jungle.  At the end of the road, your guides will be waiting to pick you up and take the last leg (by boat) of the trip upriver to the waterfront lodge.  Following lunch, an afternoon of Tarpon or snook fishing in one of our jungle lagoons.  Return to Lodge for happy hour and dinner. 
Day 3

Day 2

Each of your next days will follow the successful formula we use to catch trophy Tarpon and Snook offshore and in the jungle rivers. When weather and sea are right, we will spend the morning offshore a couple of miles, chasing schools of feeding Silver King.  We will cast to intercept them as they pass, with strikes on the surface and up to 75 feet down. You can expect a lot of action.  We will return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation, before heading out for an afternoon of fishing in one of the jungle rivers.  Your guide will explain the options for the day.  Return to lodge for happy hour, dinner and overnight. 
Day 4

Day 3

Following an early breakfast, a guided charter for Tarpon or other species, depending upon conditions.  Return to the lodge for lunch and a brief siesta, then its back out for another fishing trip in another location.  Your target species will depend upon the weather, seas, river conditions and of course your own input about how you like to fish.  Your guide will explain the options for the day.  Return to lodge for happy hour, dinner and overnight.  
Day 5

Day 4

We will repeat this formula each day of your stay, with your input.  You may want a break from fishing the giant Tarpon, or  you may want to simply keep after them for a personal best- it's your choice.  There are smaller species in the river and you can try for Jack Crevalle, Guapote or Wahoo in the intertidal zone or even cast from the beach....sometimes it's the best of the trip. The variety of the Tortuguero region is legendary.  Your guide will explain the options for the day.  Return to lodge for happy hour, dinner and overnight. (3/3 stays depart this day after breakfast) )

Day 5

A full day of activity. Following an early breakfast, a guided charter for Tarpon or other species, depending upon conditions.  Return to the lodge for lunch and a brief siesta, then its back out for another fishing trip in another location.  Choose to explore the areas incredible scenery and wildlife rather than fishing, or simlpy set your rod down and pick up your camery between casts. (5/4 Depart this day after breakfast) 
Day 5

Day 6

Continue the fishing adventure in the spectacular Caribbean sea and the rivers of one of the world’s great jungles.  Manatee, crocs, monkeys, and one of the great bird populations of the planet accompany you as you cast to giant fish under the jungle canopy. (5/5 stays depart after breakfast on this day) overnight one last night at the incredible Jungle Tarpon Lodge.
DAY 7
This is the final fishing day for your seven day stay.  By now, you will have fished hard for 6 days and now spend your last full day with us, continuing the pursuit of a personal best.  This week will satisfy the most ambitious Tarpon angler.  We carefully release all of these magnificent fish, and your photos will remind you forever of their incredible will to be free.  Overnight one last night with the Howler Monkeys and the evening sounds of a living jungle soon to be an incredible memory. Departing the following morning after breakfast, arriving San Jose in time for a noon flight if you choose, or one more overnight downtown (on your own).
