Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1

7:00 pickup at your San Jose hotel, then travel through a Cloud forest and Banana Plantations to the edge of the Jungle.   You’ll meet your guides at the end of the road and board a boat for the 30 minute shuttle up river to Jungle Tarpon Lodge.  You will arrive in time for lunch and a thorough orientation.  After lunch, you’ll join your guide for an afternoon of world class guided river fishing for Snook or Tarpon. Return to lodge or happy hour, dinner and overnight.
Day 2

Day 2

Following an early breakfast, enjoy a full day of guided fishing for Tarpon or other species (depending upon season and conditions).  If conditions permit, we'll target Tarpon in the shallow near-shore saltwater in the morning, then return to the lodge in for a great Tico lunch and even a quick nap if you like.  After lunch, we'll target Calba Snook or Tarpon in the rivers.  This is a memorable fishing experience, often under the watchful eye of two toed sloth and Howler monkeys.  Return to lodge for happy hour, dinner and overnight.

Day 3

By now you will be getting the hang of how things go for fishing for Tarpon in the jungle.  The offshore mornings are very productive as you can sight fish the moving schools as they chase the bait fish.  As we exit the river, the guide will usually stop to collect some live bait before we begin cruising the shoreline.  The fish can be spotted passing with a flash of silver and the chase is on.  An average fight will last 20 to 30 minutes with a fish to the boat about one out of two or three hooked.  It will be a good scrap.  Head in for lunch in the late morning.  Following lunch, the jungle rivers will be our destination where you can continue the search alongside bird and animal filled jungle trees and overnight at the one of a kind Jungle Tarpon Lodge.
Day 4

Day 4

This will be the last full day of fishing as we repeat our best days offshore and inside. You and one other angler will join the guide in collecting bait and then chase the legendary "Silver King".

As you cruise the coastline you will see pristine jungle with the occasional small outpost on this otherwise wild beachfront.  After lunch, your final afternoon of angling in the jungle rivers will be a last chance to capture photos of not only your fishing experience, but a remarkably beautiful part of the world.

Day 5

Day 5

Our final day together on this 5 day fishing journey.  You will have your choice of heading offshore for a wide ranging search for Tarpon, or the opportunity to cast inside to the quiet overhang of the jungle canopy.  It will be a fitting end to a special fishing trip in one of the world’s unique Eco Adventure locations. After this final morning of fishing, we will head to the lodge for one more lunch and goodbyes with the lodge staff, before boarding the boat that starts your return trip to San Jose.  Plan on arriving in the city in the afternoon.
