ALASKA WILDERNESS CAMP REMOTE JOBS:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great Alaska operates two remote camps- one in Lake Clark Nat. Park (brown bear viewing) and one in Kenai National Wildlife Refuge (canoeing, paddling and multi-sport travel)  All staff must be able to spend long periods of time in a remote location. Guides must have a great deal of outdoors experience and be very self-reliant and physically fit. Cooking skills required, and people skills a must.  Wilderness First Responder certification a big plus, basic first aid and CPR required for all hires.  Woodworking and general "craft skills" are a big plus as well.

Alaska Wilderness Resort jobs and remote wilderness jobs are not for everyone.  Before you apply, consider if you are the kind of person who can handle the long days, sometimes challenging living conditions and lack of day to day amenities that this kind of work provides.  If you love the wilderness and being closer to it, these jobs can be life - changing and we encourage you to apply- but if you have not had extensive experience with wilderness camping and self-reliant living conditions, then we encourage you to consider one of our other lodge based positions.  Wilderness first responders are also encouraged to apply.  All remote camp staff must pass a background check.

Great Alaska Adventures Remote Camps:

Bear Camp CrewBearCamp® (Lake Clark National Park)--Spectacular, private fly in bear viewing camp. Truly a one-of-a-kind location and camp, our bear viewing camp in Alaska is very special.  In addition to client guiding, staff responsibilities include: camp upkeep, housekeeping, gear maintenance, cooking and guiding. Knowledge of firearm safety is important and training will be provided. Good people skills a must. Knowledge of natural history, fishing, flora and fauna of Alaska is a plus.  No road access, complete wilderness, so must work completely as a team and be prepared to do a wide variety of tasks.  As all remote locations, being physically fit, mentally and physically healthy is a must.  Very limited positions are available each year.

KWL staffKenai Wildlife Tent Camp (sorry, not hiring for 2017-Kenai Nat. Wildlife Refuge) -- accessible by boat only, our riverside tent camp is our base of operations for our great tent camping itineraries.  Camp hosts provide meals, shuttle guests up and down river from main lodge, set u camp in beginning of summer and shut it down again at the end.  Perfect job for a committed couple, with housekeeping, kitchen and general maintenance all aspects of the job, along with customer service of course, guiding and many more duties.  Must be comfortable operating shallow running riverboats to shuttle guests from the camp downriver to the main lodge.  As with BearCamp®, a "can do", happy attitude and love of the outdoors is a requirement for success.
