Kenai Fjords National Park

Kenai Fjords National park provides one of Alaska's most popular destinations for Alaska glacier and wildlife cruising, and of course whale watching!  It is included on many of our most popular Alaska Fishing, wildlife viewing and combination adventures.

Things to remember for your Kenai Fjords experience:

Like many of our experiences, you'll want to dress in warm layers, and that should include rain jacket and pants, a warm hat, sunglasses, a rain hat and a pair of binoculars.  (check out our "what to bring list" when you are packing for your trips).  Finally, a day pack to hold your belongings is essential.  You may want to consider gloves as well. The boats we use have large decks, and those in the know will want to spend most of their
time out there when conditions permit, but to do that you need to be prepared for changing elements!

Our Kenai Fjords National Park cruise experience, we'll use our favorite day cruise operator, and travel deep within the park to experience all of the wildlife, plunging fjords and scenery that has made this region famous.  Most trips will travel to a tidewater Glacier (weather permitting) to hopefully spot calving ice, one of the most memorable events of any Alaska trip.

Exit Glacier HikingOn the way to the fjords, we'll take a great short hike to the base of Exit Glacier...a very moderate walk that allows us to stretch our legs and experience a glacier close up..this will really make an impact when we see the tidewater glacier on the cruise!

"Kenai Fjords National Park is a land dominated by glaciers, massive rivers of ice that flow out from the Harding Icefield. Today, nearly 51 percent of the park is covered by ice, but all of this land was once buried beneath the ice and still bears its influence. The dramatic coastal fjords and valleys of the park reveal a long history of glaciation."

From tiny striations only millimeters wide to stunning fjords thousands of feet deep, the land of Kenai Fjords National Park tells a story of ice that has taken thousands of years to write. Today the national park exists to preserve the story written in the landscape and to protect the coming chapters. Here in Kenai Fjords, we will be watching as the glaciers of the Harding Icefield respond to a changing climate and the slow processes of time."  (Thanks to the National Park Service for this bit of Glacial trivia!)
