Holbox Island Whale Sharks & Wildlife
It's no wonder the giant whale sharks come to Holbox Island. Holbox itself is the quintessential “end of the road”. Swim with these gentle creatures on a whale shark tour. Explore the island by golf cart, swim in the Mayan Cenote spring, horseback ride on the beach---and of course ample time to relax on the sand. This is a truly amazing destination and our lovely lodge on the beach is just the place to explore it!The nearby Yucatan Jungles, rich with Mayan culture and ruins, are populated with the descendants of a civilization that mysteriously eroded hundreds of years ago. On the Mayan explorer itinerary, the highlights will be a visit to the Mayan Ruins, an island golf cart tour (the only vehicles allowed on the island), horseback riding on the beach, and swimming in the Cenote Springs. Seven day trips spend time at one of the most famous Mayan Ruins-- Chichen Itza or Ek Balam . May to September you can even snorkel with the gentle whale sharks of the Yucatan on a whale shark tour (extra charge). We will attempt to satisfy the wishes of the active and curious traveler while still providing sufficient time for the beach and sun. (2 guest minimum)
Late afternoon and evenings will be spent on the sand and then on the beautiful terrazzo, sharing a cocktail while watching another spectacular sunset.
