..................................................................................................................................................................................

Meals are all-important on any vacation, and the staff and managers of Great Alaska Adventure Lodge want your experience at the lodge to be nearly as memorable as your time in the field. With our guests arriving from all over the world, serving fresh, healthy foods is a key ingredient for any trip, so wild Alaskan Salmon and Halibut is a must, along with various proteins served with light sauces, relying on the freshness and flavor of the food itself.  Chef Jay, Chef Adam and the rest of the team are creating some of the best food on the peninsula.

Our executive Chef Jay Deal and his entire staff are happy to work with your specific dining needs to the best of our ability.  Whether it be a vegetarian diet, a gluten restricted diet please let us know of any specific restrictions you may have during the reservation process and we will let you know if we can accommodate you.  Please be advised that our kitchen cannot accommodate acute nut allergies or extreme Gluten free diets, or as many of the raw ingredients we use may have been processed in a facility that processes nuts, and we do not have secondary kitchen space to prepare gluten free items separately.  If you have any life threatening allergies, it is your responsibility to share that with your adventure expert when you are setting up your trip.

Breakfast

In thirty years of showing guests the amazing Kenai Peninsula (and Costa Rica and Mexico) we have found that a quintessential "American" style breakfast is as popular today as it has ever been.  As long as there are some lighter options (granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, croissants and jam) the old standby's are still a big hit with the "up before the sun" crowd.     Every morning there are vegetarian options and lighter fare, plus the "entree of the morning"- eggs Benedict, fisherman's scramble, The "All American" bacon and eggs, blueberry pancakes, and of course Stanley's famous biscuits and gravy!

Lunch

Halibut Tacos LunchOur trips are active, so other than your first day, when you'll have lunch in the main lodge immediately after your trip orientation with your trip manager, lunches are served on the trail or in the boats.  On your arrival day, wild Salmon and Clam seafood chowder, Halibut Tacos, Crab or Halibut cakes (like the ones at left) garden salad and pasta salads and many other specials will make their way onto the lunch menu.  For the balance of your lunches while at Great Alaska Adventure Lodge, in the morning while you are enjoying breakfast, the kitchen staff will lay out a smorgasbord of lunch meats, breads and cheeses, vegetables and condiments, so everyone can create their own  "perfect lunch".  Homemade cookies, fresh fruit, chips and filtered water round out the "adventurers' lunch".    In keeping with our goal of improved sustainability, we have given up the water bottles for reusable Great Alaska logo water bottles, which will be issued to all arriving guests.  We'll have filtered water coolers as well as our own great infused citrus or cucumber water available in the lounge and the dining room for refilling any time during  your trip- the bottle is yours to take home.  Some daily adventures include a shore side lunch prepared by your guide, with Reindeer Sausage and a flavorful cheese, a glass of matching wine and chicken or fish draped in caramelized onions, peppers and juicy tomatoes.

Afternoon snack
Each day a we'll have snacks and a hot item (Things like hot soup, Chile with cornbread, clam chowder) will be served around 4:00 to tide hungry folks over to the happy hour/dinner which begins at 7:00.  We have long days in Alaska, and many folks are not used to being up and going so long!   We'll have filtered water coolers as well as our own great infused citrus or cucumber water available in the dining room refilling any time during  your trip- Great Alaska is reducing waste wherever we can and we have done away with plastic water bottles.  BE SURE TO BRING A WATER BOTTLE WITH YOU that you can take on your daily adventures.   (We have some for sale in the pro shop if you forget).    Some daily adventures include a shore side lunch prepared by your guide, with Reindeer Sausage and a flavorful cheese, a glass of matching wine and chicken or fish draped in caramelized onions, peppers and juicy tomatoes.

Happy Hour

Appetizer layout - Happy hourOur "Nearly World Famous" Happy Hour begins at 7:00 pm with a great spread of appetizers to start your meal.  During happy hour, you'll get a chance to speak to the guides, other guests and the management, as we coordinate all the comings and goings for the following day.  During happy hour in the Adventurer's Lounge, both Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available (all included in your package) as well as tasty appetizers to get your palate ready for the evening repast.

Dinner at Great Alaska  comes with a true "view Table" overlooking the Kenai and Moose rivers, along with the Kenai Mountains in the background.  Great Alaska serves plate side, with a single entree per evening...Fresh Alaskan Seafood are staples, as well as a variety of accessible, popular choices.  Our goal is to serve special food that looks great and everyone loves.  If you have any allergy or dietary restrictions, be sure and tell your adventure specialist when you book your trip.
