Great Alaska Bear Camp

2 days/ 1 night- $895

3 day/ 2 nights- $1195

Few locations in Alaska can match the grandeur of our private wilderness fly-in camp in Lake Clark National Park. Your bush plane will fly by glaciered volcanoes, and land you at the edge of an “Alaskan Savannah” that is so perfect for the bears that it has been proclaimed a “critical bear habitat”. In the early spring, when the female Bears and their young are most vulnerable, they leave their dens to feed on the succulent grasses growing in the meadow directly behind our camp. As the young cubs mature and the salmon begin returning, the bears shift focus and begin to feed upon the Coho and Chums directly below our camouflaged viewing platform. This provides us with extremely consistent viewing from early June through August.

Upon arrival at the camp, your guide will give you an orientation on proper conduct in bear country. Whether walking on the beach or sitting at the spotting scopes on your camouflaged viewing platform, your guide will be by your side, explaining all that you see.

Day 1: We’ll pick you up in Anchorage at 7:45 AM at the Anchorage for the beautiful trip to Great Alaska. Check into the lodge, and following a detailed orientation and salmon lunch, you’ll take a quick shuttle to the airstrip, then board the plane for the spectacular flight to Bear Camp. Spend the day with your guide at several viewing positions. Dinner and perhaps one last trip to the viewing platform before bed. Great Alaska Lodge trips will follow the same schedule and return to the lodge in the afternoon on the second day.

Day 2: Rise to the silence of true wilderness! After breakfast you and your guide will spend hours at the best viewing opportunities before your mid-afternoon flight and 6:30pm van departure for Anchorage. (3 day guests have all day to enjoy the bears and perhaps beachcomb or write in their journal.)

Day 3: Final day- after breakfast, one last chance to spend time with the bears, then lunch and a flight back to the lodge and a van trip back to Anchorage. Arrive into Anchorage approximately 9:00 p.m.
